At OhMyPaws, we require all dog walkers to undergo proper training and certification in dog handling and safety. This can include understanding dog behaviour, handling techniques, and basic first aid for dogs.
Dogs should be kept on a leash at all times during walks (unless told otherwise). Ensure that collars or harnesses are appropriately fitted and in good condition to prevent escape or injury.
Before taking on new clients, we conduct an assessment of each dog's behavior and temperament to ensure they are suitable for group walks and can interact safely with other dogs.
Limit the number of dogs a single walker can handle in a group. Smaller groups are easier to manage and reduce the risk of incidents. Therefore we don’t ever walk more than 4 dogs at once.
We maintain updated emergency contact information for each dog in case of any accidents, injuries, or medical issues.
At OhMyPaws, planning safe walking routes is essential so we avoid busy roads, hazardous areas, and high-traffic locations.
We’ve got established guidelines for walking during extreme weather conditions, such as excessive heat or cold, heavy rain, or storms.
We clean up after the dogs during walks to maintain a clean and safe environment.
We ensure that all dogs are up-to-date on vaccinations and in good health before participating in group walks.
Every one of our dog walkers has to carry a basic first aid kit with them, including items like bandages, antiseptic wipes, and tweezers.
Each dog should wear a visible identification tag with their name, owner's contact information, and any relevant medical details.
We establish a clear communication system between our dog walkers and you to report any incidents, emergencies, or concerns.
OhMyPaws is fully insured to cover potential accidents or injuries during walks.
We have a written agreement with pet owners outlining the terms and conditions of the dog walking service, including waivers of liability and safety guidelines.
We also encourage ongoing training and regular safety assessments for dog walkers to keep their skills up-to-date and ensure a high level of safety.
